Oats Idlli

Oats idli is a healthy and nutritious breakfast option that is easy to make and tastes delicious. Here is a simple recipe to make oats idli:

Ingredients:

1 cup rolled oats
1 cup semolina (rava/sooji)
1 cup yogurt (curd)
1/2 cup water
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp chana dal (split Bengal gram)


1 tbsp urad dal (split black gram)
1/2 inch piece ginger, grated
1 green chili, chopped
1/2 tsp baking soda
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnishing


Instructions:

Dry roast the rolled oats in a pan over low heat until they turn slightly golden brown. Remove from the heat and let them cool.

Grind the roasted oats to a fine powder in a blender or food processor.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they start to crackle, add cumin seeds, chana dal, and urad dal. Fry until the dals turn golden brown.

Add grated ginger and chopped green chili to the pan and fry for a few seconds.


Add semolina to the pan and roast it for 3-4 minutes on low heat until it turns light brown.

Transfer the semolina mixture to a mixing bowl and let it cool.

Add oat flour, yogurt, water, and salt to the bowl and mix well to form a smooth batter. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

Add baking soda to the batter and mix well.



Grease the idli molds with some oil and pour the batter into them.

Steam the idlis in a steamer for 10-12 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the idli comes out clean.

Remove the idlis from the steamer and let them cool for a few minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with coconut chutney or any other chutney of your choice.
